How is Audiee.ai different from the ChatGPT Meetings plugin?

Both take meeting notes on a Mac without a bot joining the call, and both send the audio to the cloud to make the notes. The differences are where the notes end up, what they are built from, and what it costs to start. ChatGPT Meetings is a plugin inside the ChatGPT macOS desktop app, in beta for ChatGPT Pro and Business plans (Pro is $100, $200 or $500 a month; checked October 2026): its notes live as pages in ChatGPT Space, personalized with context from ChatGPT Work and the apps you have connected, and suggested action items can be handed straight to ChatGPT. Audiee.ai is a standalone Mac app: the transcript and notes are Markdown files on your Mac that you can export and keep after deleting the app; English, Mandarin and Cantonese are transcribed mixed in one sentence by default; every meeting joins a Knowledge base with backlinks and on-Mac semantic search; a local MCP server hands all of it to Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor; and it starts free, with 3 transcription hours and 20 meetings a month, then $19 for Pro and $49 for Ultra. Neither is an offline tool, and with either one you must tell the people in the meeting that you are taking notes.

Facts about the ChatGPT Meetings plugin come from OpenAI's help article and Pro tiers page, checked October 2026 and linked in Sources. Where the article is silent, this page says so. Audiee.ai is not affiliated with OpenAI.

What the two have in common

Where Audiee.ai is different

The notes are files on your Mac. A meeting in Audiee.ai ends as a Markdown transcript and a Markdown summary in a folder you own. Any editor opens them, export is one click, and deleting the app leaves them where they are. ChatGPT Meetings writes its notes as pages in ChatGPT Space, inside ChatGPT.

Languages switch mid-sentence. Audiee.ai's default Mixed mode transcribes English, Mandarin and Cantonese as they were spoken, in the same meeting and the same sentence, with Cantonese particles kept and the summary in written Chinese; Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay and Filipino with English mixed in work the same way. Audiee.ai publishes no accuracy figure yet — see Cantonese and mixed English–Chinese meetings.

Meetings become a memory, and your AI tools get it. Meetings, dictated notes and screenshots become Knowledge: Markdown pages with backlinks and a graph view, searched semantically on your Mac. Ask what you quoted last time and the answer arrives with the meeting it came from. A local MCP server, wired up for Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor after install, gives those agents your meetings and notes as tools — see the MCP server page. Tap Ctrl in any text box to type by voice, in mixed languages too.

It starts free. 3 hours of transcription a month, shared between meetings and voice typing, 20 meetings, an unmetered Knowledge base, no card. Pro is $19 a month and Ultra $49.

When ChatGPT Meetings fits better

If you are already on a ChatGPT Pro or Business plan and you want meeting notes to appear inside ChatGPT, written with the context of ChatGPT Work and the apps you have connected to it, ChatGPT Meetings does that in one place: the summary and suggested action items land on a page you can ask ChatGPT about, and an action item can be started with one click for ChatGPT to carry out. If that is the workflow you want, and the plan is one you already pay for, it is the better fit; Audiee.ai does not write into ChatGPT.

What this page does not claim

Should I use Audiee.ai or ChatGPT Meetings for meeting notes on a Mac?

It depends on where you want the notes to live. If you already pay for ChatGPT Pro or Business and want meeting notes inside ChatGPT, written with the context of ChatGPT Work and your connected apps, ChatGPT Meetings is built for that, and it is in beta on those plans (checked October 2026). If you want the transcript and notes as Markdown files on your Mac that outlive any subscription, meetings that mix English, Mandarin and Cantonese in one sentence, a Knowledge base you can ask across every meeting, an MCP server for Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor, or a free plan to start on, Audiee.ai is built for that. Both work without a bot, both send audio to the cloud, and both leave it to you to tell the people in the meeting.

Does either one put a bot in the meeting?

No. Both record from the Mac's microphone and system audio, so neither adds a participant to the call. ChatGPT Meetings can detect that you are in a call and offer to take notes; Audiee.ai detects Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Feishu (Lark) and offers to take notes, and records any other call with Ctrl+M. Because nothing joins the call, nothing announces itself either: with both tools you tell the other people yourself — see is it legal to record meetings?

Is either one an offline tool?

No. ChatGPT Meetings streams the audio to OpenAI to generate the notes, deletes it from your Mac and OpenAI's servers once the notes are ready, and needs an internet connection to produce them; if you are offline, the audio waits on your Mac until it can upload (checked October 2026). Audiee.ai streams the audio to a transcription service in the cloud and gets text back; its servers keep no copy of the audio or the transcript, and recording needs a connection. What Audiee.ai writes from it — transcript, summary, notes, Knowledge — is Markdown on your Mac; see what stays on your Mac and what is processed in the cloud.

Can I get my notes out as files?

In Audiee.ai, yes: transcripts, summaries and Knowledge pages are plain Markdown files on your Mac, export is one click, and the files remain if you delete the app. In ChatGPT Meetings, the notes are pages in ChatGPT Space that you can read, ask ChatGPT about and share; OpenAI's help article does not describe exporting them or the transcript as files, so this page makes no claim either way (checked October 2026).

Which plans include meeting notes, and what do they cost?

ChatGPT Meetings is in beta on all ChatGPT Pro plans and all Business plans; OpenAI's Pro tiers page lists Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 at $100, $200 and $500 a month, the Meetings article does not list Plus, and Enterprise is a limited alpha (checked October 2026). Audiee.ai's free plan includes 3 hours of transcription a month, shared between meetings and voice typing, and 20 meetings, with no card to download; Pro is $19 a month and Ultra $49 — see pricing.

Does Audiee.ai handle Cantonese and Mandarin mixed with English?

Yes. Mixed mode is the default, so a sentence that starts in Cantonese, borrows an English term and ends in Mandarin is transcribed as it was said; Cantonese keeps its spoken particles, the summary is in standard written Chinese, and English terms stay in English. Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay and Filipino with English mixed in are handled the same way. Audiee.ai publishes no accuracy figure yet. Details on Cantonese and mixed English–Chinese meetings.

Do I have to tell people I am taking notes?

Yes, with either tool. OpenAI's article says to tell everyone and get their consent before you start, and that the in-app reminder is visible to you and does not notify the other participants. Audiee.ai is the same: no bot joins, so nothing announces itself, and Audiee.ai shows a reminder before your first recording. Recording law differs by place — see is it legal to record meetings?
