Is Audiee.ai fully offline? What stays on my Mac and what is processed in the cloud?
No. Audiee.ai is not an offline tool. Audio goes to the cloud to be transcribed; what comes back, and everything written from it, lives on your Mac. During a meeting or a dictation, the audio is sent to a transcription service and returned as text; Audiee.ai's servers keep no copy of the audio or the transcript. The transcript, summary, notes and knowledge base are Markdown files on your Mac — delete the app and the files are still there — and none of it is used to train models. Semantic search over Knowledge runs on your Mac, and so does the MCP server that gives Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor your meetings and notes as tools. Nobody but you sees a meeting until you share it, and sharing is something you do on purpose: type a recipient's email and they get a read-only link. If offline is the requirement, Audiee.ai is the wrong tool and this page says which kind is right.

What is processed in the cloud, and what lives on your Mac
| What | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Audio of a meeting or dictation | Sent to a transcription service in the cloud during capture and returned as text. Audiee.ai's servers keep no copy. |
| Transcript text, for the summary | The text needed for the summary goes to a language model service and comes back as the summary, action items and what you are waiting on. Not kept on Audiee.ai's servers. |
| Transcripts, summaries and notes | Markdown files on your Mac. One-click export; delete the app and the files remain. |
| Knowledge (meetings, dictated notes, screenshots) | Markdown pages with backlinks and a graph view, on your Mac. Semantic search runs on your Mac. |
| MCP server for Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor | Runs on your Mac and is wired up for those clients after install; your meetings and notes become tools the agent can call. |
| Training | Your audio, transcripts and notes are not used to train models. |
| Sharing | Only when you choose to. Type a recipient's email; they get their own read-only link, with an optional email code, a 7-, 30- or 90-day expiry if you set one, and you can revoke it at any time. |
What the cloud step means in practice
- Recording needs a connection. Transcription happens in the cloud, so Audiee.ai cannot transcribe a meeting with no internet.
- Audio and text are processed, not stored. Audiee.ai's servers keep no copy of the audio or the transcript; the trust page lists each service and what it sees.
- Your record is on your Mac. What Audiee.ai writes for you — transcript, summary, notes, Knowledge — is Markdown you can open, move, export and keep after the app is gone.
- You still tell people you are recording. No bot joins the call, so nothing announces itself; Audiee.ai reminds you before your first recording, and the law on recording differs by place — see is it legal to record meetings?
- A small team in Singapore. Audiee.ai follows the PDPA and has no third-party audit to point to; what it can show is the data path, service by service, on the trust page.
If offline is the requirement
Then pick a tool built for it. MacWhisper and similar local tools transcribe on the Mac itself with no cloud step; the trade is that summaries need a model you connect yourself (checked September 2026). Audiee.ai is not that tool and does not pretend to be. What it offers instead is mixed-language transcription — Cantonese, Mandarin and English in one sentence — a memory you can ask across every meeting, and a Mac app that runs on Intel as well as Apple silicon, macOS 13 or later. The ten-tool comparison puts both kinds side by side with dates and sources.
So Audiee.ai is not fully offline?
No, it is not. Audio is sent to a transcription service in the cloud and returned as text, and the summary is written by a language model service in the cloud. Because of that, recording needs an internet connection. What is returned — transcript, summary, notes — is written to Markdown files on your Mac, and Audiee.ai's servers keep no copy of the audio or the transcript.
Does any audio or transcript stay on Audiee.ai's servers?
No. The audio is processed to produce text and is not retained; the transcript is not retained either. The only meeting content Audiee.ai's servers hold is what you choose to share, for as long as the share lives — and, if you record on an iPhone, the end-to-end-encrypted hand-off to your Mac, deleted once the Mac collects it. The trust page lists every service involved and what each one sees.
Is my data used to train models?
No. Audiee.ai does not use your audio, transcripts or notes to train models — see does Audiee.ai train on my meetings?
What happens to my notes if I delete the app or stop paying?
They stay. Transcripts, summaries and Knowledge pages are Markdown files on your Mac; deleting the app leaves them where they are, and any editor that reads Markdown can open the folder. Export is one click.
Who can see my meeting notes?
Only you, until you share. Sharing is by email: you type the recipient's address and they receive their own read-only link; you can require an email code, set the link to expire after 7, 30 or 90 days, and revoke it whenever you like. Nothing is emailed to attendees by default. See sharing meeting notes.
Can Audiee.ai work fully offline if that is what I need?
No. If offline is the requirement, local tools such as MacWhisper exist for it: MacWhisper runs on the Mac itself, with no cloud step, but to get summaries you wire up your own model (checked September 2026). Audiee.ai makes the opposite trade — transcription in the cloud with no server copy — in exchange for Cantonese, Mandarin and English mixed in one sentence, a memory you can ask across your meetings, and support for Intel Macs as well as Apple silicon. The ten-tool comparison sets the two side by side.
