What is Audiee.ai?

Audiee.ai — Audiee for short — is a local-first AI assistant for Mac that takes meeting notes automatically, writes by voice in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, and builds a knowledge base on your Mac that answers questions with sources.

Where does my data live?

On your Mac. Transcripts, notes and the knowledge base are plain Markdown files under ~/.audiee. Audio goes out only for transcription and comes back as text; assistant requests go to a model and are not used for training.

Does a bot join my meetings?

No. Audiee.ai captures from your Mac's audio. Nothing joins the call, nothing announces itself, nobody sees an extra participant.

Which meeting apps are detected?

Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Lark (Feishu). Any other call — or an in-person meeting — can be recorded by pressing Ctrl+M.

Which languages does it understand?

English, Mandarin and Cantonese natively, including switches inside a sentence; Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Malay and Filipino the same way, with English mixed in. Other languages are transcribed with a streaming engine. Translate mode speaks one language and types another.

Does it work on Intel Macs?

Yes — macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon or Intel. There is no Windows or Linux version.

Does it drain the battery or spin up the fans?

No more than a chat app. Transcription happens on a streaming service, not on your Mac's CPU, so a recorded meeting costs about what the call itself costs; the only local model is a small search embedder that runs on a single thread when new notes arrive. Idle, Audiee.ai never keeps your Mac awake — it sleeps and wakes with the lid, and only holds the system awake while a meeting is actually being recorded. There is no video recording; during a meeting, Read screen reads the text on the meeting window every few seconds with Apple's on-device text recognition, which is light work. Nothing runs when you're not in a meeting except a light check every few minutes for reminders.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet. Audiee.ai is a Mac app. An iPhone companion app for in-person meetings — record on the phone, and the meeting lands on your Mac — is in testing and not available yet. Your notes are files, so you can already sync them with any tool you use.

Does it record video?

No. It records audio for the transcript, summary, action items and follow-ups. During a meeting it also reads the text on the meeting window — slides, a shared document — with on-device text recognition about every 6 seconds; no screenshot is kept, only the text, stored with the meeting on your Mac and sent with the transcript for the summary. Read screen is on by default; switch it off in the live window or in Settings.

How accurate is the transcription?

Comparable to the best cloud services for clear audio; better than most on mixed Chinese and English. Names and terms you correct once are learned for next time.

Can it tell who is speaking?

Yes on Zoom when the Accessibility permission is granted — it reads Zoom's active-speaker indicator. Teams and Meet in the browser are experimental.

What does it cost?

Free covers 3 hours of transcription a month — meeting recording and voice dictation draw from the same pool — plus 20 meetings, with the knowledge base included. Pro ($19/mo) raises that to 25 hours and 100 meetings; Ultra ($49/mo) to 55 hours and unlimited meetings. Yearly plans are cheaper.

Does dictation count against my transcription hours?

Yes: meeting recording and voice dictation draw from one monthly pool of transcription hours (3 on Free, 25 on Pro, 55 on Ultra). Dictation doesn't use up your meeting count, though — that only counts recorded meetings. Reading, searching, asking questions, sharing and the MCP server aren't metered at all.

What happens when I hit the free limit?

If the hours run out, recording and dictation pause until the 1st; if only the meeting count is used up, dictation carries on. Everything you've captured stays searchable and askable. Upgrade any time.

What is the knowledge base?

A folder of Markdown pages — meetings, documents you add, daily journal pages, people and projects — with backlinks, a graph view and search that is both lexical and semantic, on device.

Can I add my own documents?

Yes: drop PDF, Word, text or Markdown files onto Knowledge, paste text, snap a screenshot (Ctrl+S; the image is read by a vision model) or import chats from Claude Code and claude.ai.

How does Ask Audiee.ai answer?

It searches your meetings, notes and journal, then answers with citations to the pages it used. It never claims something is absent from your notes without searching first.

Can it answer during a meeting?

Yes. When someone asks a question you've discussed before — a price, a date, an owner — Audiee.ai detects it and offers the answer from your record, on the side.

What is the evening review?

After 6:30 pm Audiee.ai quietly files anything worth keeping from the day into Knowledge and prepares answers to open questions for the next morning.

How do I share notes with someone who doesn't use Audiee.ai?

Click Share on a page or meeting and type their email. They get a personal link to a read-only web page — no account. You can require email confirmation, set an expiry, and stop sharing any time.

What exactly is shared from a meeting?

Summary, action items, waiting-on and follow-ups always; your notes and the full transcript only if you tick them.

Is sharing end-to-end encrypted?

No. Shared pages are stored encrypted at rest on our infrastructure and served only to people with the link (and a code, if you require it). Unshared notes are stored nowhere but your Mac; audio still streams out for transcription and transcript text for summaries, and no copy of your audio or transcript is kept on our servers.

How does it work with Claude Code, Cursor and ChatGPT?

Audiee.ai runs a local MCP server exposing your meetings, notes and connected services as tools, and wires it into Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor automatically. It can also delegate tasks to your CLI agents with context attached.

Can several people use one Mac?

Yes. Each Audiee.ai account has its own data space on the machine; switching accounts switches meetings, knowledge and memory.

What does Audiee.ai remember about me?

Durable facts you tell it or that recur — preferences, projects, people — as small Markdown memory files you can read, edit or delete in Chat → Memory. Memories can expire.

Can I edit or delete anything?

Everything: transcripts, summaries, pages, memories. They're your files.

Can I leave?

Any time. Settings → Export my data produces a zip of plain Markdown — no proprietary formats.

Do I need to tell people I'm recording?

That depends on where you are. Audiee.ai doesn't announce itself, so you are responsible for any notice or consent your local law requires.

Does it work offline?

Capture needs a connection for transcription. Search, reading, editing and the MCP server work offline; reminders retry when you're back online.
