How is Audiee.ai different from stacking Granola + Wispr + Obsidian?
Audiee.ai is one Mac app that does the three jobs that stack splits across three apps: it takes your meeting notes, it types what you say in any text box, and it keeps all of it as a knowledge base of Markdown files on your Mac that you can ask questions of. The difference is not only one app instead of three. Because the meetings, the dictation and the notes live in the same place, a meeting becomes a page next to your other notes with no export step; a question such as "what did we quote them last time?" is answered from your own meetings with the source attached; and your AI tools — Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor — reach all of it through one local MCP server that is wired up for you after install. Audiee.ai recognizes English, Mandarin and Cantonese mixed in the same sentence, in meetings and in dictation alike. The free plan covers 3 hours of transcription a month, shared between meetings and dictation, plus 20 meetings; the knowledge base is not metered.
Facts about Granola checked October 2026 and linked in Sources. This page makes no claims about Wispr's or Obsidian's current features or plans.
The three jobs, in one app
| What the stack does | In Audiee.ai |
|---|---|
| Meeting notes | Detects Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Feishu (Lark) on your Mac; Ctrl+M records anything else, including in-person meetings. No bot joins the call. Within a minute of the meeting ending you have the summary, your action items and what you are waiting on from others; every point carries a timestamp and jumps to the line in the transcript. |
| Voice typing | Tap Ctrl in any text box and speak: filler words removed, punctuation added, English terms kept as spoken inside a Chinese sentence. Ctrl+Shift translates as you speak; Ctrl+Space asks Audiee.ai by voice. A term you correct once is recognized next time. |
| Knowledge | Meetings, dictated notes and screenshots become Markdown pages with backlinks and a graph view. Semantic search runs on your Mac. |
| A memory you can ask | Ask "what was the last quote?" and the answer comes with the meeting it came from. |
| Your AI tools | A local MCP server exposes meetings and notes as tools. Audiee.ai sets it up for Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor automatically after install. |
| Where it all lives | Markdown files on your Mac. One-click export; delete the app and the files remain; your content is not used to train models. |
Where the stack differs
Granola stores its notes in its own cloud, and on its free plan you can only reach the last 30 days of them; older notes come back with a paid plan (checked October 2026); in April 2026 The Verge reported that Granola's note links were open to anyone with the URL by default. Audiee.ai's notes are files on your Mac for as long as you keep them, and nobody but you can see a meeting until you share it with a named recipient — by a read-only link that can expire and be revoked.
Wispr and Obsidian we have not fact-checked for this page, so it says nothing about what they do or cost. What a stack costs you is the seams: three apps to install and keep in step, three places your words land, and the connections between them are yours to set up and keep working. In Audiee.ai, what you dictate, what was said in a meeting and what you wrote down are the same kind of file in the same folder, searched and asked together.
Who should pick which
Pick Audiee.ai if your meetings mix Chinese and English, you want the meetings to add up to a memory you can ask, you work with Claude or Cursor and want them briefed from your meetings, or you would rather have one app than three.
Keep the stack if you prefer a separate tool for each job, or you need audio that never leaves the machine: Audiee.ai transcribes in the cloud — its servers keep no copy, and the notes stay on your Mac, but it is not an offline tool.
Does voice typing use up my meetings?
No. Meeting recording and voice typing share the monthly transcription hours (3 on the free plan), but dictation never counts as a meeting. Reading, search, questions, sharing and the MCP server are not metered on any plan.
Can I keep using my current notes app alongside Audiee.ai?
Yes. Audiee.ai's transcripts and notes are plain Markdown files on your Mac, so any editor that reads Markdown can open the folder. Nothing is locked in, and export is one click.
Does it handle Cantonese mixed with English?
Yes. Mixed mode is the default, so a sentence can switch between English, Mandarin and Cantonese and still be transcribed. Cantonese transcripts keep the spoken particles — 佢哋, 唔係 and the rest — while the summary is written in standard written Chinese. Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay and Filipino with English mixed in are handled the same way.
How does it connect to Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor?
Through a local MCP server on your Mac. After you install Audiee.ai it adds itself to those clients' configuration, and your meetings and notes appear as tools the agent can call. Details on the MCP server page.
What does it cost to start?
Nothing. The free plan includes 3 hours of transcription a month (meetings and dictation together), 20 meetings and an unmetered knowledge base, with no card required. Pro is $19 a month, Ultra $49; see pricing.
